Best Time of Year to Elope in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is the wedding capital of the world! This is mostly due to how easy and convenient it is to get a marriage license. There’s no waiting period and the Marriage License Bureau is open seven days a week from 8am – midnight. Las Vegas also has a ton of quirky chapels to choose from. Plus, my favorite outdoor areas like Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire offer epic backdrops. And, there are also plenty of traditional venues and golf club options here too. I’ll breakdown the many venue options in another blog post soon, but this post is about choosing the best time of the year to elope in Las Vegas.
Have you been to Las Vegas in the summer? If so, then you already know that it is not the best time of year to elope in Las Vegas. Las Vegas summers are HOT, especially July & August. I don’t recommend summer elopements but it’s also not impossible. I suggest an indoor chapel or an outdoor sunset desert ceremony. If circumstances make summer your only option, be prepared for the heat by staying hydrated and as cool as possible with portable personal fans or cooling bandanas.
To many people’s surprise, Vegas has cold winters and although rare, it can snow here. The winter months of January and February may not be ideal, but again it’s possible with indoor venues. Preparation is key. Brides, you can can wear a pretty shawl to keep warm, boots, wool tights under their dress, and carry hand warmers.
Now that I’ve shared the least convenient times of year, let’s get right to why Spring and Fall seasons are the best times of the year to get married in Las Vegas. Clearly, it’s because spring and fall have the best weather. Like in most parts of the country, Las Vegas does get some rainfall (not much) in spring. However, the mild temperatures and desert blooms make the desert look pretty and alive! Fall is most definitely my favorite season in Las Vegas. There’s rarely a rainy day and the air feels cool and crisp. In some areas, we even get to see some of the leaves change colors on the trees.
Of course, this also means that Spring and Fall are also the busiest seasons for Las Vegas wedding vendors. This means you need to book your venue and other vendors, especially your photographer, florist, and beauty teams early! I recommend booking a minimum of 6-8 months in advance for peak season. This is especially true for Saturdays, dates with repeating numbers, symbolic meanings, or that fall on holiday weekends. If you’re flexible and willing to get married on a weekday, then you can be a little more spontaneous! I still suggest you don’t wait too long to reach out because it is Vegas after all and weddings happen any and all days of the week!
